Design Services

DIY projects can be great, but when it comes to a renovation, you want to hire an expert to save you time and money. We have the experience with the process, suppliers, contractors and materials to get you just what you’re looking for, without expensive mistakes or hours of online shopping.

Investment in design services starts at $250.

OUR FOUR STEP PROCESS

1. DISCOVERY SESSION

The process begins with a 1:1 meeting at Blue Heron Design Centre to thoroughly review your style goals and functional needs with your designer. We will discuss your budget, priorities, timeline, likes and dislikes and will review your inspiration images together, discuss material options and explore potential layouts.

2. MEASURING SESSION

We will come to your space and take measurements to get the exact dimensions of your windows, walls, doors, floors, sinks, fridges, everything. If you have already purchased new appliances for your space, we’ll need their dimensions too, but we recommend waiting to finalize your design before choosing your appliances.

3. DESIGN SESSION

Welcome back to our showroom! You will meet your designer again within 3-5 business days to review a detailed 3D model of your space and 2D layout, along with curated material selections based on our discovery session. Your designer will walk you through the model and carefully review every detail with you. You will work together with your designer, offering feedback and requesting design edits during this session so that we can ensure you’re getting your dream space.

4. REVIEW SESSION

After having a few days to sit with your proposed design concept, you will meet with your designer again to discuss any potential follow up edits, as well as review a comprehensive price list for the materials and products featured within your concept. Once everything is finalized and agreed upon, we will place your order with our suppliers. Once it arrives, we will contact you to arrange delivery or storage.

BEFORE WE START

You will be expected to provide the following prior to beginning your design experience:

Budget Range
- The Rule of 3%, 5%, 7% applies to most kitchen renovations and new installations
  - 3% of the value of the home should be the cost of cabinetry, countertops and installation for a home where budget is the primary driving factor
  - 5% of the value of the home where budget is not the primary motivator
  - 7% of the value of the home where design, style and functionality are the driving factors.
Timeline
Inspiration images, this could be a Pinterest board, (follow us for inspiration and ideas) or just a series of screenshots on your phone, a saved folder on instagram or images torn out of magazines!

Should you require additional time beyond our 4 stage process to finalize your plans, you may purchase additional design support through your designer.
